Mary Ruth Brasfield Born: Arkansas City, KS on July 7, 1909.

Children: Barbara Hoffman, daughter; Chris Brasfield, son.

My mom has always been my biggest inspiration. Growing up, I never remember seeing her rest much. She was always, always accomplishing things, taking us somewhere, or lending a helping hand on one of our school projects. Sickness or negative thinking was nothing my mom ever had time for. She also never left anything for someone else to finish.

When our first daughter was born in 1971, with cerebral palsy, Mom didn't hesitate to give her complete help and support, as she had always done when I was growing up. Then in 1975, when I decided to start my own business, mom jumped right in and joined me in the business.

Today at 89 nothing has changed. My mom works full time as buyer in our family business, personally maintains a beautiful home, and continues to be there for her family.

Her favorite saying which she always raised us by is "If it's meant to be, it will be."

I love you, Mom.
