The Heroines

LaNita Gail Mark

is honored with a Brick from Timothy Mark and Mike Mark.

Growing up, our mother Nita Mark was so many things to us: a financial wizard at budgeting, a gourmet chef, an activity coordinator, a referee between siblings, an educator (imparting her wisdom where needed), and sometimes even a doctor or ambulance driver (depending on the severity of our injuries).

It seems like she would have little time for anything else, but I still remember her canvassing neighborhoods to draw votes for a particular referendum she cared about or politician she thought was best suited for the job. She still to this day is involved in many groups, selflessly giving her time and energy to help achieve a common goal.

I still remember how proud I was of my mother at her college graduation to discover she had graduated with a nearly perfect grade point average. Especially when she was able to do it while working a full-time job. I just thought to myself, Yeah, that's my Mom, she's one smart woman!

This is just a small part of why we want to place our mother in the Plaza of Heroines and thank her for all the sacrifices she made on our behalf, and tell her, for all the times we've forgotten to, how important she is to us and her grandchildren and how much we love her.
