Bonnie Bing Honeyman

 Bonnie Bing Honeyman Bonnie Bing, a favorite of mine, has been a staff writer for The Wichita Eagle since 1980, and writes a weekly fashion column, "Remnants," and a weekly social column, "Happenings." She also writes feature stories in town and on location. Twice a year she coordinates and writes a seasonal fashion section. Bonnie travels to New York and Dallas at least once a year.

Bonnie Bing attended Wichita public schools. She graduated from North High in 1965 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wichita State University in January, 1970 and a Master's degree in Physical Education, with an emphasis in dance, in 1976. Ms. Bing taught physical education at Pleasant Valley Junior High for six and a half years and was Assistant Athletic Director in Women's Athletics at Wichita State University for four years.

Ms Bing enjoys people and is a wonderful commentator for fashion shows, etc., enjoys people, shopping, swimming, reading, writing (which everyone else enjoys daily), interior decorating, entertaining, designing jewelry, traveling, fashions, dancing, and watching old movies.

Community volunteer work includes: CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), a Roots and Wings program designed for volunteers to help juvenile offenders and children in need of care get through the juvenile judicial system and find permanent placement; member of the Advisory Committee of Roots and Wings; immediate past president of the Wichita Bar Association Auxiliary; member of the Board of Trustees of the Wichita/Sedgwick County Historical Museum; sustaining member of Junior League of Wichita, Inc., (now a sustaining advisor); advisory committee member of the Wichita Ballet Theater; member of the Starkey Action Council; member of the Community Council Advisory Board of the WSU Center for Women's Studies; member of the WSU National Endowment Advisory Council; and active member of the Wichita State Alumni Association.

Some community involvement in the past includes: member of the board of directors of the YWCA, Quivira Council Boy Scouts of America, WSU Alumni Association, and Senior Services, Inc.

Bonnie is married to attorney Richard Honeyman and has two step-grandchildren and one grandchild.

Bonnie Bing Honeyman is most deserving of a brick in the Plaza of Heroines at Wichita State University because of all her accomplishments and her future involvement in the community helping others to achieve their dreams.
