Some people are simply passionate about making things happen. Carol Wilson is one of these people. Not only does she make things happen, she always approaches an endeavor with the intention of making the journey and the outcome fun for everyone.

The arts in Wichita have grown because of dedicated, passionate individuals like Carol who share a vision of creating and maintaining an environment within our community that pulsates with an abundance of creativity, innovation and artistic expression. She believes that art is a basic necessary living experience.

Through her leadership, gifts of time and resources, great humor, beauty and wisdom, as well as her keen insight into networking with diverse interests for a common goal, Carol lives by example. As a mother, businesswoman, activist, teacher, student and friend, Carol has made an impact on many lives. This is why she is celebrated as a Heroine.

We are proud to be able to take this opportunity to honor Carol and publicly thank her for all she has done for us and the community.

Carol E. Wilson Personal History:

Owner - Oakford Vineyards, Napa Valley, California
Graduate of Wichita State University, where she was a National Key Honor Society member.
Served as The Wichita Center for the Arts President of Theatre Guild, and Chairman of Volunteers.
Member of the City of Wichita Design Council.
Served six years on the WSU Foundation Board of Directors
Served as Chair of The WSU Foundation Art Committee, for The Ulrich Art Museum of Art.
Served on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Ballet of Wichita, Inc.
Served on the Board of Directors of the Wichita YWCA.
Member of Women's Association of The Wichita Symphony.
Member of the Women's Auxiliary of The Wichita Children's Home.
Member of The National Association of Women's Business Center.
Honorary members of Mu Phi Epsilon.
Previously actively involved in Kapaun Mount Carmel and Wichita Collegiate School where she assisted in the composition of a school drug policy, hosted awards banquets, aided in the planning and implementation of a drug-free graduation party and served on various school fund raising programs.
Chair of The Wichita Center for the Arts Board of Trustees, 1997 to date.
Recipient of the Gordon W. Evans Award, at the 1998 Wichita Sedgwick County Arts and Humanities Council's 29th Annual Art Awards Ceremony.
Honored by The Wichita Center for the Arts "Designing Women" at Holiday Tables 2000.
