Candy went to grade school at St. Margaret Mary, high school at Mt. Carmel Academy where she worked in the school library. She is a Wichita State University graduate where she worked in the Sociology office. She became a C.P.A., Accountant with Ross Kirby & Associates.

She is the Mother of Jay and Tom Carlley.
