Marcellete G. Davis is a true heroine who enriches the lives of everyone she meets. She is a beautiful lady, a gracious hostess, a loving friend to everyone and a forever optimist!

Marcy was born in Deep Water, Oklahoma in 1907. Her father was an oilman and sold real estate and her mother was a homemaker. She has fond childhood memories of when she and her little brother had fun and rode their pony. Her cute sense of humor was evident when she told me with a twinkle in her eye, that sometimes she would come downstairs in the morning and her brother would say, "How's your empty head sis?" and she would reply, "The same as yours."

Later, as a teenager she received many honors; one of which was High School Football Queen in Tulsa. In 1927, at Oklahoma University, she was voted the number one "Prettiest Girl" by the student body. And later, she was crowned the Tulsa Rose Queen.

In 1938, Marcy married Courtney B. Davis, an oilman in Wichita. He created and built an eighty-five acre recreational park near Kechi, Kansas where they lived for many years. At "Yentrouc Lodge" all ages enjoyed swimming in the lakes, diving from the platforms, dancing to the jukebox music, cooking out and picnicing.

Marcellette enjoys many hobbies. High on the list is dancing; especially ballroom and the latin, but earlier ballet and pointe. Another hobby, involving years and years of lessons is decoupage. She created beautiful pieces, one of which will be on permanent display at the Wichita Center of the Arts. This piece is a small armoire with eight tiny drawers lined in silk which has fifty coats of shellac. Another hobby is entertaining. Her greatest joy is to have guests for lunch, dinner or tea, with interesting centerpieces and fun activities for the guests. Marcy supports the cultural arts in Wichita as well as the Children's Home and Heartspring.

Marcy has been a member of the Christian Science Church since she was eleven years old. The person who had the greatest influence in her life was her mother and her grandmother. "They taught at an early age to be thankful for the abundance of good in the world; to look for the good and to find the good. They taught me the importance of choosing good thoughts." Marcy has continued her ability to see the bright, happy side of things. Her very appreciation is her strength, her joy and her life; thereby touching the lives of others in a most profound and wonderful way. Her joy and memory will always be close to our hearts. She always expresses so much joy and love!!
She has been a great blessing in my live as well as the lives of others. She was my mother's best friend and now she is my best friend.

Submitted with admiration, love and respect by Kathy Knoor.
