Married to Albert Dextras February 9, 1946.
Mother of five children, Suzanne, Paul, Cathie, Mary Alice, Dee Anne.

Served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II.

Careers: administrative roles, real estate agent, civic leader, political leader, consummate reconciler, Derby Kansas school board member 4 terms, school board president, one term, involved in her Church as a leader and motivator.

She always said that her children were her best friends. Mary Lou lived her life well, raised her children to strive to be their best, loved and cherished her grandchildren, and married her high school sweetheart, Al, to whom she was married for 52 years.

Mary Lou passed on May 1, 2001 with her family around her. Family members and friends will remember her love of dance, music, and people. Her best contribution to us was herself. She succeeded in accomplishing many goals, but she succeeded in life by being herself.
