 Linda D. Peterson Linda Peterson has worked tirelessly for the betterment of her family, church and community. Her hard work and dedicated leadership have benefited many people. My life has certainly been blessed by Linda, my wife of 30 years. Linda is the kindest, most generous person I have ever known. I often tell Linda that I'm her biggest fan.

Linda (Fike) Peterson, daughter of Warren and Paula Fike graduated from Centre High School in 1968. She attended Kansas State University for 1 and a half years and married me on December 21, 1968. We have a son, Jeff and a daughter, Susie and three grandchildren, Tate, Toby and Sesely. We live on a farm near Burdick, Kansas. Linda helps with the cattle, hog and crop work on our farm in addition to all her other activities.

Linda is a member of the Burdick United Methodist Church and is also, a member of the United Methodist Women's group. Linda has held many offices in the church and the women's group. Currently, Linda is serving as the chairperson of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and as a communion steward. In UMW, Linda currently serves as the chairperson of the supportive community committee, whose responsibility includes all church dinners and funeral dinners.

Linda served on the Centre School Board (USD #397) from 1981 to 1989. Linda also served on the Marion County Special Education Cooperative Board (representing the Centre Board) from 1981 to 1989. She was president of the Marion County Special Education Cooperative Board for at least three of those years.

In January of 1992 Linda was appointed to the Marion County Commission. She was elected in the fall of 1992 for a four-year term and was re-elected in 1996 for another four-year term. Linda has served as chairperson of the Commission for three years.

She also served as president of the North Central Kansas County Highway Officials Association (1994-95) and is currently serving on the Kansas County Commissioners Association Board as immediate past president. Linda is currently on the Kansas Association of Counties Board and was elected as their representative to the National Association of Counties (NACo) Board of Directors. Linda has been appointed to NACo's committee on Intergovernmental Relations.

Linda serves on the advisory council of the North Central Flinthills Area Agency on Aging, Central Kansas Regional Solid Waste Authority, North Central Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Facility Board (secretary), and the 8th Judicial District JJA Planning Committee (co-Chair).

As our children were growing up, Linda took part with them in the Lincolnville Wide Awake 4-H Club. Linda was a project leader for seven years in foods and gardening. She was supportive of our son Jeff in his FFA efforts during his high school years. Linda has been a committee member of the Burdick Council of Clubs. The last two years she has been in charge of the Burdick Labor Day Parade. Linda also is a member of the Marion Chamber of Commerce and takes part in their activities.
